Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra challenges the legality of the recent CBI raid on four locations in Krishnanagar, her parliamentary constituency, asserting it was conducted unlawfully to impede her election campaign. Moitra, who was suspended from the Lok Sabha for alleged misconduct, voices her objections in a letter addressed to the Election Commission, condemning the raid as an attempt to disrupt her electoral prospects.
In her correspondence with the Election Commission, Moitra describes the CBI raid as unethical and disproportionate, accusing the agency of seeking to "harass and strangle" her election campaign. She urges the Election Commission to intervene promptly, demanding action against the alleged illegality and issuance of guidelines to regulate the activities of central investigating agencies during the Model Code of Conduct period. The CBI had initiated the raid following the registration of an FIR against Moitra, a move she perceives as politically motivated and aimed at undermining her candidacy.
